Just Enjoy Now

I look back and realize that the last several updates I have made revolve around school. There are a few reasons for that. First of all, it is something new to do. I was working (sorta) all summer, plus I had frequent trips to LA, and The Sound of Music toward the end of the summer. Second of all, I have made school my priority in life. I am not quite sure what has brought on this determination, and great desire. I really feel different this semester, like I'm stepping up to the plate.
I am ahead in my homework and lab work (just not the reading), and I think I need to start studying math again.
Ok, time to talk about things not related to school.
I went to an audition last weekend for A Christmas Carol. I was given the call back information for next month for the parts I am going to read for, four I believe.
If you follow me on goodreads.com, you will notice I am reading four books currently. I started one a bit ago (for literally the 4ourth or fifth time) called The Hidden Mickey by Nancy Temple Rodrigue. It is an adventure/scavenger hunt book about these two men who find Walt Disney's long lost diary that leads them on this great adventure. I have no idea why I can not sit my butt down to actually finish it.

The second book I am reading is my textbook for my programming class, Connecting With Computer Science by Greg Anderson.

The third book I am reading is a book I got for my birthday called The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

The last book I am reading I saw as a book review on YouTube, and then I saw it on sale while at the Ripon hot air balloons launch 2 weekends ago. It is called Matched by Ally Condie.

So my mind is unfocused when it comes to reading these days. I feel unfocused in general lately unless it is concerning school. I think I am at a good point in my life right now. I am not in a relationship, I have a job, I have a few extra activities, I have goals and direction. School is my opportunity, I am not going to blow it this time. No moving around, no getting involved with guys, no switching jobs, just enjoy now.

Particular Treasures

I just finished reading Peculiar Treasures by Robin Jones Gunn for the second time. The title comes from the King James version of the Bible; Exodus 29:5 "Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a particular treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine."
I do not read the King James version of the bible, my mother told me that it is not the true Bible, so we stick to the New International Version, but I also like The Message. Our church is reading the English standard Version this year. I am also enjoying it, but I stay away from KJV.
This book is a continuation of the cherished Christy Miller Series. This is the first book in the Katie Weldon Series. Katie is best friends with Christy. The book opened up at Christy and Todd's wedding, which is not a surprise. The wedding is the last scene from I Promise, the last book of the series Christy and Todd: The College Years left off.
We get to see how Katie's relationship with Rick Doyle unfolds. They knew each other in high school, and Rick was a bit of a player, and not only on the football team. Katie had a cliche crush on him, but after he graduated, he was seldom heard from. He found the Lord, became a Christian and wrote an apology letter several years later (I'm guessing three or four years). Shortly after that, the Lord brought them together again, and with his changed life, he and Katie decide to start spending time together, but not moving on to labeling themselves as 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend.'
Some other story lines that are adventured include new friends, a new job as an RA at the fictional college, Rancho Corona, and a new baby!
I had a lot of fun reading about Katie's summer and first few months of her senior year. I highly recomend this book but if and only if you have read the Christy Miller Series, the Sierra Jensen Series and Chrisy and Todd: The College Years, all by Robin Jones Gunn.

215-181=?

The book I am reading has pages missing out of it. I was reading page 181, then read a page from 215. So my story is incomplete. How odd, I guess I got what I paid for. A $1 book from a library book sale.

Empty Summer

Man, I really have not a lot planned this summer. At church, I was just talking with a few of my old friends, about summer plans and all I've got is Mexico and hopefully a job to get me started. But then I am getting asked by like 4 or 5 people to counsel at the camp for a week and I have no idea. I mean, I would love to, but I just don't feel comfterable up at Calvin Crest. I'm not familar with it and don't really agree with some of its motives. I was hoping to take next sumer off and work up ay Pondy, where I am familar. I mean, I've been up there every year for different things since I was 6. and my dad was up on staff there years ago and I just have had all of my life changing moments there. Like last summer, but thats too long of a story to get into now.

Night wishes

Its almost 11:30 (not right now it isn't) and my vision went out the window at like 9:30. So, reading for English is almost not an option. And so I lie here in my dark room, all alone, listeneng to my radio, with my window open, and the peacocks seem restless tonight. They make the most amazing and peaceful sounds. And I don't mind not being able to do anything because there are other thing to be thinking about. And of course, the only song that has to come on is She's in my Head. Except in my case, its the other way around. Dude, if I could, I'd just get up and leave. Just go to the park or something. There would be no one there and I could actually be myself for a few hours. Night time is the best time in the world. There is no one up and about in my house, I have the only room downstairs, and no one can hear my music, which is a little out there. The best time is right before dawn, when a person knows that a day is comming and they know they have to make the most of it. It is an opportunity to live and be thankful for the day. I'm not sure if I can describe it. You just have to know.
All of the Trinity kids are in San Francisco right now, and if I weren't in percussion, I'd be there too. Last year was so amazing and life changing. The weather was beautiful with all of the rain and the night walks. I think last year, I hung out with some people I normally would not have hung out with. They are amazing people and I wish we could still hang out. doesn't look like I'll be back tlil May. Got San Diego this week and a Fever camp the next week. Have a good time, I'll be praying for ya.
And no matter what people, you can't get anywhere in life by wishing.
