Spring 2015, the Adventure Continues!

Tomorrow, I am beginning my second semester at San Francisco State University. I am taking the same amount of classes as in the fall, but I am now a full time student with 12 units. I was taking 4 classes last semester but it added up to only 10 units because one of them was an online class.
Because I spent so many years  at MJC, SD Mesa College and Napa Valley College, I am technically a senior in the psychology department, but I am not going to graduate this year, probably next year.

The courses I am taking are:

PSY 305  GWAR Contemporary Issues in Psychology with a focus in Controversial Issues in Psychology

Consideration of controversial psychological topics of historical and current importance from diverse psychological perspectives. Self-deception, nature of intelligence, and intimate relationships are some of the issues covered.

This class is a requirement for graduation. GWAR classes are Graduation Writing Assessment Requirements. They are a type of English class focused on writing, and this one happens to be in the psychology department.

PSY 461 Introduction to Industrial/Organizational Psychology
Application of psychological principles and methods in understanding human behavior at work, and to approach and solve problems in business and industry. Addresses such issues as: employee selection, training, and evaluation; working conditions; motivation, leadership, and organizational theory.

I am very excited about this class because I am considering focusing my coursework in graduate school towards I/O Psychology

PSY 571: Intermediate Psychological Statistics

Statistical theory and techniques applicable to various experimental designs and other forms of psychological research.

I took Stats at MJC, and I barely passes. That class stressed me out so much I lost about 15 lbs that semester. I took it again at SFSU and I did amazing! Aced my tests and homework. So I decided to move on to the next level in stats

CSC 210 Introduction to Computer Programming.

Design, implementation, testing, debugging, maintenance, and documentation of programs. Algorithms, programming concepts, and data types. Concepts of object-oriented programming; numerical and non-numerical problems.

I did a year of programming at MJC and after discussing it with Ryne, I think I am going to attempt to minor in Computer Programming.

Tomorrow begins another amazing semester at SFSU. Go Gators!

More than a Place to Put Books

I really like libraries. It goes beyond my love of reading and books. I like the atmosphere of education and learning. There are different areas, some I've been to have had art galleries, some have had cafe's. I have a list of my top three favorite libraries that I have been to.

3) San Diego Mesa College Learning Resource Center

While I went to San Diego Mesa College, I spent a lot of my time studying (chemistry if I remember correctly) at this library. The building is huge and it overlooks part of the campus, and on clear days, you can see all the way to La Jolla

2) San francisco State University: J. Paul Leonard  Library
I am currently on the 4th floor on a rainy day. If it was clear I could see the ocean out of my window. I spend a lot of my time here when I a not in class. There are many places to study, there are couches and comfy chairs to nap on and even a coffee shop

1) University of California San Diego: Geisel Library
This Library has the most commanding architecture of any library I've ever seen. I had an ex who went to this school and I spent a lot of time in this library studying while he was in classes. The first floor is art galleries, mostly dedicated to Dr. Sueus, You can also see the ocean from the 8th floor of this building.

Quick update

Sorry for the lack of real updates lately. This summer was amazing. I graduated from MJC, and went on two trips with Ryne.
In May we did 2 nights in Santa Cruz, and then 2 nights in  Monterey.
In June, we did a week in Las Vegas and found ourselves at EDC, the most amazing experience we could have shared together.
We also went skydiving twice, and he taught me to shoot a gun.

Recently, I began my life in San Francisco. I have school 4 days a week, and I'm working 25-30 hours a week, so I am pretty busy as you can imagine.

I will try to make little update posts here and there as I can, for the moment, I have to get back to reading an 11 page article about the sex habits of the bonobo apes.

Mean

I haven't decided if I am going to make this post public or keep it private. I have been planning on making this post for almost three years now.

Shortly after I left my ex, he started a blog and decided to write about me. Every little mean and twisted bit of information he could recall, and twist he made into public knowledge. It was humiliating and it hurt a lot of people, not just myself. That same summer I stumbled across a song that I could easily relate to. It is a song that I took to heart and it remains one of my favorites.

I waited until I was accepted into a university to write this because one of the lyrics states, "Someday, I'll be living in a big old city, and all you're ever gonna be is mean." This is now truth. I'm accepted, and signed up for San Francisco state University, my "big old city." It is my dream come true.

Here is my life, three years ago, sung by Taylor Swift, "Mean"
